Baird's Sandpiper

Last October, I went on a trip back home to the Stavanger area. During my visit, a Baird's Sandpiper was found just a few kilometers away from where me and a friend was birding. We drove ten minutes, and had a look at the little wader - only the fourth recording in Norway, as far as I can remember, and the first one to be found in South Norway.

At the time, most of the Norwegian twitching community were stuck on the small island of Utsira. Getting to the sandpiper the conventional way (boat and car) would have taken a day or so, so they rented a helicopter. Apparently, it had to do several turns. The sandpiper stayed at the same spot for more than two weeks...

  2. Precious watercolor. I like especially the light and the position of the wader. The horizontal lines of the background are very interesting. Good work! Greetings
